Red/Green Lettuce

The varieties of green and red lettuce, grown as baby leaf, belong to the same botanical group as head lettuce.

Depending on the variety, the leaves can range in colour from light green to dark red.

The colour of the leaves is determined by the different presence of photosynthetic pigments and is completely natural.

The taste of lettuce varies according to the colour of the leaves: it is fresh and delicate in the green-leaf varieties, while tending to be bitter in the red-leaf varieties.

This lettuce is used to prepare salads and as decoration for other dishes.
